Facilities and Capacities Among its many attractions, Cartmel Old Grammar offers you the opportunity to marry in the 800-year-old Cartmel Priory under the care of Reverend Nick Devenish. Here, you can opt to marry or receive a blessing no matter your beliefs or where you are travelling from. Guests can walk to and from the venue in only a few minutes while you arrive in style in a carriage drawn by local black Fresian Shire horses. Alternatively, the house is licensed to hold a traditional wedding service within its historic walls or a bespoke ceremony outside. Whichever you choose, you will have exclusive use of the entire property for up to 100 people, including nine luxurious bedrooms, the Georgian dining hall, reception rooms, and a private bar. Outside, a large south-facing sun terrace and formal gardens offer a complete setting for a summery country wedding. If you have a larger gathering in mind, an elegant marquee is a wonderful alternative that includes a covered walkway leading directly into the property.
