"Castle Goring is the most romantic Castle in the Land," said Lord Byron, arguably England's most famous, poet. Built for Percy Shelley, the great English Romantic Poet, the Castle is a unique and stunning, year-round wedding venue, set in the South Downs National Park on the outskirts of Worthing, West Sussex. This magnificent venue offers breathtaking backdrops for all kinds of festivities, whether it's the grandeur of the State Rooms, the Ceremonial Hall, with its double-height ceiling, or the stunning South Lawns, overlooked by the beautiful Horse Shoe staircase and balcony. Facilities and Capacity The Ceremonial Hall is an ornate room featuring grand double doors and a second, traditional entrance to the side. Licensed for ceremonies, up to 100 guests, you can also host your wedding breakfast here, with up to 76 guests. There are three huge, magnificently furnished, interconnecting staterooms on the first floor: the Aphrodite Drawing Room, the Galba Drawing Room, and the Library. These spaces will set the scene for a drinks reception, canapes, and after-dinner relaxation. The Castle's State Dining Room can aost up to 50 guests for a formal wedding breakfast. Guests are encouraged to use two more rooms, Queen Victoria's Rooms, adjoined for ease of movement. Couples seeking an outdoor wedding ceremony will delight in the idyllic Italian Terrace. You can also have drinks in the fresh air while guests explore the property. A huge marquee is constructed for use from Spring until early October, and overlooks the grand southern facade of the Castle. Its transparent wall allows guests to take in the majesty of the Castle and grounds while letting natural light pool in. Up to 150 guests can join you here for dining, or 180 if additional chairs are hired. The Mary & Percy Shelley Bridal Suite provides a luxurious environment where you and your wedding party can prepare for the day ahead. Boasting natural light, a beautiful imperial-sized bed, and elegant French furniture, you'll find yourself in the lap of luxury.
