There are four beautifully unique venues within Derby Museums for you to choose from. Flexible spaces are on offer to cater for the most intimate or extravagant of celebrations, from 5 to 250 guests, in whatever style suits you best.
Pickfords House - a Grade I listed town house
Pickfords House belonged to the 18th Century architect Joseph Pickford; it is a celebration of Georgian living with stunning furniture and fittings. The beautiful Georgian Garden, with fragrant herbs and the heady perfume of Jasmine filling the air, make it a delightful space for your ceremony or to enjoy drinks with your guests before your meal, as well as creating a wonderful backdrop for your photos.
Pickfords House is a charming wedding location with two room options. The great dining room offers a special fine dining experience for up to 25 people. The top gallery offers for a more informal wedding buffet, both perfect for the more intimate gathering. Wedding venue hire includes exclusive access and gives you the opportunity to choose your own catering and special touches.
The Museum of Making at Derby Silk Mill Grade II listed UNESCO World Heritage Site
On the site of the worlds first factory, Derbys iconic Silk Mill offers a stunning industrial backdrop on the banks of the River Derwent. The dedicated ground floor Italian Mill embraces the industrial look, with bare brick walls and can host weddings, ceremonies and dinners for up to 180 people. The Italian Mill also has its own private entrance from the Cathedral Green, an exclusive bar featuring items from local breweries and distilleries and offers the potential option of in-house catering from The River Kitchen.
The new addition to the Silk Mill, the Civic Hall, is a bright modern entrance to the museum. The innovative glass construction alongside the original brickwork of the main Mill building brings together the old and new architecture. This adaptable space can function as a reception area for arrival drinks or as a breakout space from the Italian Mill.
The Museum and Art Gallery on The Wardwick Grade II Listed former Library
Derby's stunning red brick former Central Library is a stylish venue designed in Flemish Gothic Style, with its long and illustrious history spanning centuries, it is undeniably one of Derbys most iconic buildings. The Wardwick boasts a splendour of its own, with features such as the striking arched entrance, beautiful glass atrium and the ornate mezzanine balcony full of curiosities. It offers flexible spaces to cater for up to 200 guests, with plenty of space for entertainment, in whatever style suits you best.
The Museum and Art Gallery on The Strand
The Museum and Art Gallery features several unique galleries licensed for your wedding ceremony, including larger galleries that can host your wedding breakfast. Several unique galleries are available including the Joseph Wright Gallery home of a world-renowned collection of paintings, including the Orrery, by Joseph Wright of Derby. This beautifully soft lit gallery is a truly romantic space to hold your ceremony.
Other spaces within the museum include the nature gallery, the Bonnie Prince Charlie room and the recently restored World Collection Gallery. For the first time in over 30 years the original Victorian architecture has been revealed, creating a bright and airy space filled with natural light. The gallery is now home to fascinating objects from around the world and is the perfect space for weddings of up to 120 guests, so can be a wonderful setting for more intimate gatherings as well as those with a larger guest list.
