About Erasmus Darwin House Erasmus Darwin House is a beautiful and utterly unique venue an intimate ceremony and reception. Our beautiful herb garden offers a perfect location for photographs. There are two rooms licensed for civil weddings seven days a week, with discounts for weekday bookings, and we can accommodate up to 30 guests. Nestled in Lichfields idyllic Cathedral Close, Darwin House is an independent, accredited Museum that was once the family home of doctor, inventor and published poet Erasmus Darwin (1731 1802). With its unique place in Georgian history Darwin House showcases the breadth of Erasmus Darwins interests and achievements which laid the foundations for his grandson and evolutionary biologist Charles. Our flexible approach means that we can cater for all your needs, whether it be a simple family gathering or a more bespoke theme. A combination of rooms can be used or even take this unique opportunity to have a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse to yourself!
