Description
Folkerton Mill, specialising in exclusive use, bespoke weddings.
If you are looking to have your wedding in a truly unique venue with rural rustic charm in every nook and cranny, then Folkerton Mill may just be the place you have been looking for!
Folkerton Mill is a grade B listed grain mill and records suggest that a Mill has been on its South Lanarkshire site since the 1700s, with the most recent collection of beautifully crafted stone buildings built in 1871. The Mill was working as recently as the 1970s and the large cast iron water wheel is still intact and visible on the side of the Mill from the garden.
So much of the physical history of the Mill still remains, its as if the Miller switched off the machinery one day, hung up his tools, closed the door and never came back. Tin cans and tools still hang on the wooden pillars that support beams, the leather grain belt still remains on the pulley system and the large iron cogs that were driven by the wheel are still in place in the wheel house.
We have been careful to leave everything as it was, taking nothing away and working around the history, resulting in a genuinely unique and intimate space in which to have your celebration.
To preserve the soul of this special building, Folkerton Mill will be exclusively available just a handful of times each year. We don't plan on becoming a wedding factory where you are shipped in and shipped out! We want you to enjoy your day to it's fullest and allow you time to relax and really enjoy the days celebrations with your family and friends.
A stunning venue and a real hidden gem set in the South Lanarkshire countryside. Folkerton Mill boasts a 19th Century watermill, a wooden hay barn, gardens and a courtyard all available for use during your celebrations.
The whole place is steeped in rural rustic history with toilets housed in the old piggery and the bar area making use of the Mill incorporating all the old machinery. The gardens, accessed via a wooden bridge over our gorgeous wee burn, have beautiful views over the countryside and are overlooked by the Mill building and the water wheel.
