Description
Gwydir Castle is a historic and atmospheric wedding venue tucked away in the foothills of Snowdonia in Conwy, Wales. This beautiful Tudor house has a rich history and is regarded as one of the finest houses of its kind in Wales. Lovingly restored by its current owners, Peter Welford and Judy Corbett, the castle is a romantic, magical space for all sorts of weddings.
Facilities and Capacity
Gwydir Castle is licensed to hold civil ceremonies, and couples can say 'I do' in the ground-floor hall, surrounded by log fires and flickering candles. Nearlyweds can also enjoy the 10 acres of Grade 1 listed gardens, celebrating with loved ones while peacocks roam freely. The formal Renaissance gardens feature 16th-century arches, terraces, and beautiful yew and cedar trees. Elsewhere on the grounds, the Old Dutch Garden features a tranquil fountain, and the Knot Garden, laid out in the shape of a rose, offers an extra touch of romance. The carefully restored grounds exude atmosphere and charm, and the garden's glorious views offer nearlyweds a stunning backdrop for their special day.
Services Offered
Peter and Judy work with couples to craft a wedding plan that meets their preferences. As well as hosting ceremonies, the early-Tudor ground-floor hall is available for a champagne reception. Afterwards, guests can spill out onto the grounds and mingle in the ancient gardens. The space is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life, offering a rare and memorable experience.
