About Michelham Priory
Michelham Priory is a beautiful Medieval estate set on its own peaceful island in the heart of the Sussex countryside. Licenced for wedding ceremonies in the grand Elizabethan Barn or stunning Priors Chamber.
You will never find a more romantic venue for your special day. Michelham Priory is set on its very own island in the beautiful Cuckmere Valley in East Sussex, close to the South Downs. We have two stunning wedding ceremony locations; the beautiful Priors Chamber on the first floor of the charming grade II listed Medieval Priory or the grand Elizabethan Great Barn set within the estate.
Wedding ceremonies and receptions for up to 130 guests take place in the grade II listed Elizabethan Barn, full of original wooden features and charm. Just outside is the stunning Moat Terrace where the drink and canape receptions take place, with romantic views of the stunning Priory house, historic watermill and the longest water-filled moat in England.
For smaller and more intimate wedding ceremonies the newly licensed Priors Chamber is the perfect location, seating up to 60 guests in a beautiful Medieval room. The chamber is complete with period furniture, stain glass windows, tapestries and a huge fireplace. After your ceremony head outside to the main lawn for a drinks reception before heading onto your reception venue elsewhere or stay with us at Michelham Priory and continue your celebrations with a reception in the barn for up to 60.
You will have private use of your ceremony room and the barn reception space as well as access to explore Priory house and the splendid 7-acre gardens. The beautifully kept grounds make the perfect location for stunning wedding photographs.
