Description

St Donat’s Castle is a castle wedding venue located near Llantwit Major, in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. This beautiful coastal property is situated on cliffs overlooking the Bristol Channel, less than an hour’s journey from Central Cardiff and Swansea. The site is reputed to have been the home of Caratacus, the famous first-century British chieftain who resisted the Roman conquest of Britain. The present castle had its origins in the 12th century, and after suffering a period of decline, it was purchased in 1925 by the American newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst. Over the course of the next several years, the castle underwent a process of redevelopment and rebuilding. Today, significant vestiges of the medieval castle remain so that you and your guests can feel linked to Wales’s past as you step forward into the future.
