Originally built in 1889 as a steel merchants for a prominent Sheffield Steel Merchant - The Mowbray comes complete with an original set of sliding factory doors - and a beautiful red brick architecture that sits beautifully against the industrial landscape. The building has huge historic charm complete with magnificent arched windows that allow for sensational light and atmosphere. The Mowbray is luxuriously historic with a gentle splendor and a story behind even the smallest item and touchpoint. All of our lighting and furniture has been custom made from reclaimed treasures - including our antique '40's chandelier allowing for a beautiful authentic experience. Our trademark candlelight glows from every table and ledge, push past our soft velvet green drapes and let yourself be completely absorbed in the romantic glow that The Mowbray is famed for... We also have a private first floor rooftop -‘Up On The Roof’ is a complete hideaway escape with leafy green views over Park Wood Springs and the historic rooftops of Neepsend. Complete with a rooftop bar - included with every wedding, a British flower garden and plenty of places to relax and enjoy Garden Cocktails and our BBQ. You’ll also find The Cabin - a secret hideaway for photos and special moments! We are all about social wedding feasting - and our reclaimed tables are laden with fresh, seasonal food straight from The Mowbray’s Kitchens - where we make everything from scratch. Choose from ‘what’s great eating at the moment’ menus - from The Sharing Table to the sensational Laden Table. Guests enjoy long lazy wedding feasts before dancing till the stars come out… We have a beautiful 100 year old mahogany drinks cabinet that forms our cocktail bar - where we serve up seasonal cocktails and carefully selected wines. We are proud to champion restoration, Sheffield craftsmanship, sustainable design and re-purpose of beautiful items throughout our interior. Alongside our independent spirit and fantastic team - it's what gives The Mowbray its famed special vibe. We love small but important touches - that all add beauty and ambience to what we do - including our own coffee blend from our inner city cafe - Mow’s - to custom artwork for The Mowbray and The Chimney House - and a bespoke incense for the buildings. And - of course we have bespoke Sheffield cutlery for your wedding feast! The Mowbray styling is all about vintage and antique vessels with tumbling blooms and greenery to complement brass candlesticks and plenty of flickering candles and personal touches every step of the way. We are family owned and operated with an independent heart and spirit that shines from everything we do. Our team have been hosting the most beautiful weddings at The Mowbray since 2018 for couples who share the same values as we do. Every step of the journey for planning your day with us is filled with bespoke consultations and expert care and experience. The Mowbray is the perfect venue for lovers of beauty, interior design, incredible food and drink and those who seek an original and bespoke wedding experience in an iconic venue. We also own The Chimney House, which is perched on the edge of Kelham Island’s historic waterway and one of the most romantic buildings for marriages and civil ceremonies. Guests often use The Chimney House for the most joyous of marriages, then float straight around the corner for feasts and parties at The Mowbray. We love to host smaller weddings for up to 50 guests to our capacity of 160 seated and 250 for a soiree.
